Pasco County grants pay back rent or first month’s rent and deposit

If your financial hardship has put you in a position where you cannot pay your rent, you have a last line of defense to protect you from eviction. Pasco County Human Services has grant money that can help you with these bills.

Emergency Solutions Grant Program

Pasco County Human Services receives grant funding that can be used to cure your late rent payments. Your eviction notice just might be your ticket to receive expedited assistance.

A social worker assigned to your case will evaluate the needs of your household to determine whether you are a candidate for the Emergency Solutions Grant Program. They are looking to see that you can normally afford your current rent, but that you fell behind due to a temporary financial hardship. Their rental assistance funding could help you catch up on your rent payments, thereby allowing you to remain in your current home.

Rapid Re-Housing Program

Another option though is to help you move into a different rental property. Rapid Re-Housing is one component of the Emergency Solutions Grant Program.

The purpose is not to keep you in an unsustainable situation. Instead, your social worker will help you move to another home which will be a better fit for your household’s needs. It may be possible to reduce your rent and even find a more energy efficient home with lower utility bills.

Grants may be used to cover the security deposit for your new rental home. If you need help, even the first month’s rent may be provided if funding is available. By helping you meet the transitional costs of moving to a new rental property, you could improve your situation and finally live in an affordable and safe home.

Emergency Food and Shelter Program

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program takes a comprehensive approach to your financial hardship. By combining rental assistance funds with help on utility bills and access to food pantries, you can survive your financial ordeal.

Funds are generally available only once during the year. Furthermore, you will need to have already applied for other available funding prior to gaining final approval through the county. Your social worker can help you with this process.
