Tricia, the security deposit is still yours, though the landlord may place any claims for damages beyond normal wear and tear as well as arrears and legal expenses.
It might be possible to get an Emergency Solutions Grant from Community Action Southwest. There are some other emergency assistance agencies to consider also.
You may receive funds to avert the eviction, but the case manager will need to know how you intend to be able to afford your rent in subsequent months. Make sure that you have some evidence to support your attempts to find a new job so that you pass the feasibility test.
