NO/AIDS helps pay housing related costs

NO/AIDS Task force is a non-profit, comprehensive AIDS service organization within New Orleans. The organization serves men, women, and families that have been affected by AIDS within southeast Louisiana. The mission of NO/AIDS is, “to reduce the spread of HIV infection, provide services, advocate empowerment, safeguard the rights and dignity of HIV-affected individuals, and provide for an enlightened public.”

NO/AIDS has worked for 29 years to provide hope, care, and compassion to the thousands of men, women, and families affected by HIV/AIDS in southeast Louisiana. NO/AIDS provides physical, emotional, mental, and social aid to those suffering from the complications of HIV/AIDS. The NO/AIDS Task Force realizes that the complications from HIV/AIDS are not purely physical.

The NO/AIDS Task Force provides a full spectrum of care. Depending on the relative need and eligibility of an individual or family, the care provided by the NO/AIDS Task Force can be provided at little to no cost to an individual. NO/AIDS Task Force offers a full HIV medical clinic. Here, individuals can receive care necessary for their condition. For eligible individuals, this care might be free. NO/AIDS also provides HIV/AIDS testing.

For individuals in need, NO/AIDS also offers a food pantry. The purpose of the pantry is to meet the nutritional needs of individuals and families who are suffering from HIV/AIDS. For individuals who are home-bound due to their condition, NO/AIDS also provides home delivered meals as well.

NO/AIDS also provides other services to their clients. One of these services is housing. Fighting HIV/AIDS can be expensive, which can place a strain on low-income families. To fight this problem, NO/AIDS offers housing solutions. These solutions range from temporary housing to clients suffering from a temporary crisis to helping to pay for housing related costs.

Furthermore, since NO/AIDS realizes that the fight against HIV/AIDS is also mental, emotional, and social, as well as physical, the NO/AIDS Task Force offers its members and their families mental health and peer support.

These are just a few of the services provided by the NO/AIDS Task Force. Each year, the NO/AIDS Task Force reaches over 20,000 people for HIV prevention education efforts. NO/AIDS Task Force remains committed to the health of the entire southeast Louisiana community.
