JPHSA provides more than just emergency housing
The Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority, located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, works to minimize the effects of mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities on individuals and families affected by those conditions. JPHSA works to improve conditions in the lives of individuals and families afflicted by mental illness.
JPHSA offers support for child or adolescents with mental health, substance abuse, and prevention needs. JPHSA also offers adult behavioral health services, adult community support, and developmental disabilities community services.
JPHSA’s adult behavioral health services include psychiatric evaluation and medication management, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, drug screens, and referrals to inpatient programs and detoxification services.
JPHSA provides adult community support. This support comes in the form of crisis intervention. JPHSA has a mobile crisis team that operates 24 hours a day and is dispatched for emergency situations. The mobile crisis team can provide in-home stabilization, emotional support, referral to support programs, and follow ups. The mobile crisis team may be reached at 504-832-5123.
The adult community support provided by JPHSA also includes help with Medicaid enrollment. Other services offered by the JPHSA adult community support include a homeless program, housing services, case management, employment and vocational services, and referrals to programs for individuals with substance abuse. JPHSA also offers developmental disabilities community services, which are designed to promote independence and participation, both at home and within the community. Individuals who meet the Louisiana State eligibility criteria can receive services including cash subsidies, help in purchasing housing, supported living services, individual or family support, vocational services, psychological services, community education, and crisis intervention services, among other services.
