Being incorporated in February 2002, Jasper Area Family Service Center received its nonprofit status in May 2002 and right away started providing services to the community.

The goal of the organization is to ensure that the children of their clients are well prepared, by empowering them to develop the required skills through a community based program, to compete and get succeed in these competitive societies. Other services Jasper Area Family Service Center provides include school readiness, parenting, employment preparation services, financial emergency services, safe driving, assist from being homeless, baby caring, awareness about drug/alcoholic abuses and computer learning programs.

Programs

Baby Talk: This parent advocacy program is utilized to assist the parents in nurturing and developing their children properly from their early ages. Providing all the necessary information on basic development of a child during its first few years, Baby Talk entices literacy by providing books on different important subjects and provides free hospital visits for parents as well.

Children’s Policy Council: This program is designed to identify and help fill the required needs of parenting families and children in order to ensure the proper development of every child in the community. The program’s goal is not only to provide advice or recommendations, but to assist parents with information than can be better understood and are helpful for the well being of their children.

Employment Prep: Employment Prep program is involved in providing quality classes for individuals seeking jobs or public with children under 19. Offering classes quarterly, which may last 20 days, the program emphasizes on improving participants’ skills in several sectors including life, job, ethics, job interviews, resume writing and job searching.

Fatherhood Initiative: Program that assists the non-custodial parents providing required skills in order to enhance their ability to maintain a good and caring relationship with their children having met their financial responsibilities. They also provide case management and classes that may help them understand their responsibilities being a parent. All the necessary funding for the program is provided by the Department of Human Resources.

Literacy Council: They assist the literacy and adult education providers by assisting and supporting their efforts towards improving the literacy rate in the community. They also help people understand the importance of literacy in this competitive world. Identifying and assessing the literacy needs of individuals as well as the workforce they take steps in improving their literacy.
