The American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization and utilized to help people, who may be suffering and going through any emergency situation, by providing skilled volunteers and with the financial assistance of donors. They focus on individuals who are affected by disasters and assist them providing shelter, emergency blood and hope.

Programs

Disaster Relief: Every year American Red Cross responds to about 70,000 natural disasters through this program. People who suffer from disasters caused by pestilence, hurricane, fire, floods, and other calamities, Disaster Relief program stands by and help them providing emergency shelters, food and other essential health services. They assess the basic needs of the sufferers and assist them in resuming their normal activities independently. They also have emergency volunteers including fire fighters and police who acquire information about disasters from concerned individuals outside the area. They are also engaged in providing blood and blood products to the disaster affected victims allowing them access to other available resources.

Supporting America’s Military Families: This program supports the military members and their families enhancing their morale and contributes in increasing their operational capabilities in many ways. They gather information about the needs of military members and their families and outline a plan in order to help them providing the required products and services accordingly.

Health and Safety Training & Education: People working in sectors that are dangerous or not safe enough need to have life-saving skills for both fulfilling their job requirements and themselves. This program is designed to allow people to gain skills on this particular area with the assistance of many health care consultants provided by the program. People work in other sectors including baby sitting or teaching can get their required assistance on a moment’s notice. People who don’t face health emergencies in their working places can also get benefited from the life-saving training.

Life Saving Blood: They have the largest blood collecting and supplying services serving more than 40% of the blood and blood products used in America. Volunteers are engaged in collecting blood from generous donors distribute them to patient at around 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers. Blood donors include students, workers, business executives, parents, and people from every walk in life. Before supplying bloods, they have a team that are involved in researching and testing to protect the safety and ensure they are free from any infectious diseases including HIV, hepatitis B and C viruses etc.
