(Request received from Lola in Whittier, CA) I recently was a victim of a rental scam, lost all the money I was saving to move, I need assistance to be able to move my kids and I are staying at my parent home, we are employed and are able to pay rent, we pay 3 storage units at this moment, and are unable to come up with full rent and deposit that is needed to move. Please help me, need to know if there is help out there for me.

I am sorry to hear about your experienced getting scammed out of rent money. We are hearing about these types of scams with greater frequency.CalWORKS focuses mostly on preventing evictions but they also have a Moving Assistance program that pays up to $2,000 towards security deposits and first month’s rent payment. More information is available through a response to another client in Los Angeles.
