(Request received from Lisa in Middlesex County, New Jersey) I am being evicted and need help with a security deposit to move into a new rental. I had lost my job and could not collect unemployment and we got behind on the rent. We have found a new rental but only have first months rent saved and we need to move NOW. Can you suggest ANYWHERE or ANYONE that I can contact for help.
Lisa, there are some state funds that are distributed through social services and a couple of regional nonprofit agencies. The statewide programs that we directed this New Brunswick resident to could be a possible match. These other options, including Community Enterprises Corporation (interest-free security deposit loans) could be a good fit also.
