CAPMC provides rental housing assistance and closing cost grants to Mercer County residents

Community Action Partnership of Mercer County (CAPMC) is a human services nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of providing safe and affordable housing to lower income families. The organization manages a budget of more than $7 million, much of which goes towards housing programs.

If you are tired of throwing your money away on unaffordable rent, CAPMC has a couple of programs that are for you. You just might be able to break the cycle of barely getting by.

The first step is to get your family into a home that you can actually afford. CAPMC provides reduced rent homes that are cheaper than the market rents that you have been paying. Part of the monthly cost is subsidized by the agency, so you are only required to pay a smaller portion that fits within your budget.

There are currently 9 homes that the agency owns. As a resident of one of these single family homes, you can begin saving extra money that you used to pay in rent. It can allow you to catch up on bills or pay off your car. Once you are all caught up, you can begin to plan the next stage in your life.

You actually have the opportunity to buy the home that you are in. These 9 families have the option to take ownership of the home they are currently renting. CAPMC will work with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency to provide closing cost assistance grants to a family who is ready to take the next step of homeownership.

If you are interested in this unique approach to stable housing and affordable homeownership options, call CAPMC at 724-342-3532, extension 106.
