Rental assistance paid by Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County

Anywhere from 70 to 100 households each year receive rental assistance funds from Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County. Hundreds others receive assistance with utility payments and medicines. What can they do to help you?

Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County is a faith-based charity that provides help to those who might otherwise suffer with chronic poverty. Their services can make the difference of being homeless or living independently.

To accomplish this, the charity works alongside other charities serving Anniston and Calhoun County to ensure that all of your immediate needs are being met. While rental assistance and utility help are popular services, there are many other ways that the agency can help you. Even transportation or holiday gifts can be arranged.

There is an intake process in order to receive help. First, Interfaith Ministries will require that you visit Family Services in Anniston. There you will need to meet with a case manager who will attempt to serve your needs there. If they believe that you would be best served by Interfaith Ministries, then they will provide a formal referral for you to the agency.

You will need to bring documentation that shows that you live in Calhoun County and that your household qualifies as low income. A lease agreement or utility bill can help with this process. Furthermore, you will need identification and social security cards for everyone in the household. This is to ensure that your household meets eligibility requirements as well as to make sure that you are getting the proper level of support to meet your family’s needs.

Staff will document your situation and note any changes to your finances, including any recent hardships that have occurred. Job loss, injury or illness or even a catastrophic event that caused major expense may be considered. Be prepared to answer questions about any evictions, including the cause for the eviction.

To get started, you will first need to visit Family Services on West 15th Street in Anniston. Their referral can get you into the program with Interfaith Ministries. Of course, you may always call directly at 256-237-1472 in order to ask questions directly.

You can get the help you need without taking on debt to pay your rent.
