QCAP can provide $1,000 in rental assistance to Norfolk or Plymouth County tenants

Quincy Community Action Programs (QCAP) offer a unique rental assistance program that can provide financially distressed tenants with up to $1,000 in rental assistance.

QCAP Back Rent Help

QCAP can provide up to $1,000 in funding to select tenants who are delinquent on their rent. This support is available to tenants who currently live in several communities located in either Norfolk County or Plymouth County.

Funding is extremely limited, so not all applicants should expect to be approved. Still, your case manager will evaluate your situation to determine what, if any funding that they can provide to help you catch up on your rent and avoid becoming evicted.

Back rent can be paid to your landlord if it will allow you to become current again. If your rent exceeds half of your monthly household income, your request will likely be denied.

Security Deposit Assistance

If you are trying to move to a more affordable apartment or rental home but need help coming up with the security deposit and first month’s rent, then QCAP may be able to help. While the cap is still $1,000, this rental assistance grant could give you the boost you need by helping you meet the landlord’s move in requirements.

QCAP rental assistance does not need to be repaid. If you are approved, you may utilize the funds to add to your own savings that you have set aside for your lease application.

The apartment or home you have selected must meet certain guidelines before your request may be considered. First, it must be safe, clean and in overall good condition. Second, it must be affordable. QCAP will not approve a rental property that is deemed unaffordable. Your rent cannot exceed 50% of your monthly income. If it does, then a case manager may work with you to find a suitable rental property that has more affordable rent.

If you are denied rental assistance from QCAP, there may still be other rent help programs available in this part of Massachusetts. It is recommended to review all free sources of Norfolk County MA rental assistance or Plymouth County programs prior to applying for rental loans.
