Delta Community Action Agency provides rent help to Garvin, McClain & Stephens Counties

Delta Community Action Agency is a major provider of rental assistance in Central Oklahoma.

Lower income tenants who live in Garvin, McClain and Stephens Counties may be eligible for special funding through rental assistance programs operated by the Delta Community Action Foundation. This organization is the community action agency serving Central Oklahoma tenants who live on the edge of poverty.

If you have experienced recent financial hardship and believe that you might be at risk of homelessness, you may be able to avoid an eviction notice by getting help through this community organization. The agency has special programs that are designed to help you either catch up with back rent, or come up with cash deposits for a more affordable rental home.

Reduced Rent Apartments

If you need a cheaper home, then you may consider whether one of the agency’s 28 apartments in Paul’s Valley will meet your family’s needs. One and two-bedroom apartments are administered by the agency, and rental assistance may be possible if you meet certain qualifications. Call 405-207-9474 to inquire about vacancies and eligibility requirements.

Emergency Assistance

If you can afford your current home but just need help with your rent this once, then you may be a candidate for emergency rental assistance. Funds may be approved to help you meet your rent for this month, and possibly for a previous month if you are falling behind.

A case manager will evaluate your need for the cash assistance as well as determine whether you will be able to reasonably afford to stay in the same home after receiving aid. If you qualify, they can help provide the funds to bring you current again. Additionally, they can speak with your landlord if an arrangement is necessary.

If your case manager feels that you would be better off moving out of a bad situation, they may recommend that you find a more suitable rental home or apartment. They can help you find a better option. You may not have the funds on hand to pay a security deposit, but the agency may be able to provide that for you. Even utility deposits could be provided by Delta Community Action Agency, making your move much easier for the family.
